Romy O'Brien (she/her)

Romy O’Brien is an Accredited Practising Dietitian with a special interest in nutrition support for people living with hypermobility conditions.

Romy has worked with more than 250 hypermobile clients, developing a strong understanding of the complex and individual nutritional needs that can accompany hypermobility, including the importance of practical, sustainable and interdisciplinary care.

Her lived experience of Type 1 diabetes and coeliac disease has also shaped her approach to dietetics. She understands firsthand the demands of managing chronic illness alongside everyday life, and the importance of nutrition advice that is realistic rather than restrictive or overwhelming.

Romy has continued to develop her knowledge within the EDS and hypermobility space through participation in EDS ECHO courses and relevant professional education and conferences, including the 2025 EDS Global Learning Conference and the 2026 Australian POTS Foundation conference.

She takes a holistic, person-centred approach, believes that healthy looks different for everyone, and aims to help clients navigate nutrition in a way that supports their health while preserving flexibility, enjoyment and connection with food.
